  • 転写因子ネットワークを再構築することで、別の機能を果たす細胞に転換！

    鈴木 治和

    切断すると2個体になるプラナリアやちぎれた足が生えるイモリなど、下等動物には、体のあちこちが再生するものがいる。哺乳類でも、線維芽細胞を特殊な薬剤で処理すると脂肪細胞様になることなどが知られるが、高等動物細胞の分化や脱分化のメカニズムには不明な点が多かった。理化学研究所オミックス基盤研究領域の鈴木治和プロジェクトディレクターは、細胞が特定の機能を発揮するために必要な転写因子とそのネットワークを体系的に抽出する技術を開発。細胞に「別の細胞の機能を果たすための転写ネットワーク」を移植することで、iPS細胞などの幹細胞を経ずに、機能を転換させることに成功した。
