1970年、メキシコの女性は平均7人の子どもを産むとされていた。ところが2014年までに約2人へと減少し、2023年にはわずか1.6人になってしまった。つまり、メキシコではもはや、人口を維持するのに十分な数の赤ちゃんが生まれていないのである。
