Global warming ‘confirmed’Add to my bookmarks

Nature Climate Change

November 7, 2011

In October, the Berkeley Earth Surface Temperature project, funded in part by climate sceptics, concluded that the Earth is warming based on the most comprehensive review of the data yet.

In a candid interview with Nature Climate Change, published online this week, the project’s director, University of California physicist Richard Muller, discusses why he believes that climate sceptics had legitimate concerns. Furthermore, he explains why he accepted funding from the Charles G. Koch Charitable Foundation, which also funds organizations lobbying against acceptance of man-made global warming.

The analysis included more than 14.5 million monthly observations and agreed with the warming measurements made by NASA and other groups. Muller concludes: "I do think that our results could change the minds of some sceptics about the reality of global warming."
