  • Publishing Excellence: Beyond Impact Factor, 28th August, Tokyo Tech

NPG and Thomson Reuters will hold a joint seminar on Publishing Excellence and how to interpret journal citation data on the 28th August at Tokyo Tech.

This seminar will go into detail on how to get published in Nature journals, with a special focus on NPG’s physical science titles including nature materials.

This detailed presentation will be given by, Vincent Dusastre, Chief Editor of Nature Materials.

In total three speakers will present on the following:

    1. Vincent Dusastre, Chief Editor of Nature Materials:
Publishing in Nature: A success story from life to physical sciences
    2. Nobuko Miyairi, Thomson Reuters:
Beyond Impact Factor: How to interpret journal citation data.
    3. Prof Hideo Takezoe, Tokyo Tech:
Highlighting Recent Material Research Papers from Asia-Oceania Institutions

  • IUPAC 42nd World Polymer Congress

The IUPAC-sponsored 42nd World Polymer Congress, “Macro 2008”, will be held from June 29 to July 4, 2008 at the Taipei International Convention Center. The theme of the event is “Polymers at Frontiers of Science and Technology” and will be comprised of 10 “traditional” symposia:

    1. Polymer Chemistry
    2. Polymer Physics
    3. Polymer Processing
    4. Nanostructured Polymeric Materials
    5. Advances in Bio-Related Polymers
    6. Polymers in Optics, Electronics, and Opto-electronics
    7. Environmentally Benign Polymers
    8. Polymer Membranes
    9. Polymer Composites and Blends
    10. Polymer Education

In addition to the above, there will be several new events in Macro 2008. These include an IUPAC-DSM Performance Materials Symposium (and the corresponding Award), the IUPAC-Polymer International Award and a Young Polymer Scientists symposium organized by the Polymer Division.

Further information and updates are available at the Congress website http://www.pst.org.tw/macro2008/.

  • Asia Nanotech Camp 2008 (ANC2008)

    2008/02/04 - 2008/02/21

This event, under the umbrella of Asia Nano Forum (ANF), will be co- organized and co-sponsored by the National Institute of Advanced Industrial Science and Technology (AIST), by Tokyo Institute of Technology (TOKYO TECH) under the COE program, and by National Institute of Materials Science (NIMS).

The purpose of ANC2008 is to provide young researchers in the field of nanotechnologies from Asian countries, as well as Japanese participants, with an opportunity to learn the frontier of this field and, more importantly, to build personal relationships across the Asian nations.
